About
Brian Ma
I am a software engineer based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. When I was younger, I participated in various programming and math competitions like the ICPC. I majored in computer science and graduated from the University of Toronto in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
I focused much of my undergraduate studies on math, optimization, and algorithms. At the beginning of my career, I gained experience in developer tooling, web development, and data pipelines and scraping. I shifted focus towards agentic development and gained experience in LLM performance evaluation, agent-driven development, and agentic development tooling. As of late, I can confidently say that agentic development is something that I want to continue being involved in.
In my spare time, I like to be involved in various projects: open source and closed source. From time to time, I would create something that solves a personal problem and then go on to package it into a more comprehensive version for the public and make it open source. An example of this is git-dupe, which was originally a much simpler version used in my personal workflow, now packaged as a comprehensive version control plugin.
I also like tennis, basketball, running, dancing, piano, and learning languages, and a lot of the time when I am not developing, you might find me doing one of these instead.
